The Star Gazers Dance Band was one of the greatest of their time under the leadership of trumpeter Eddie Quansah in Kumasi Ghana. Unfortunately, Eddie succumbed to the music of Western influence and joined the Osibisa Band in Europe. This was before the release of chartbusters like Qu eye which featured Nigeria’s Sharp Mike on the Solo Trumpet. The lead guitarist was Tailor. Trombonist Adlib young was also responsible for taking the Band to new levels of creativity. The Stargazers enjoyed so much popularity for their flexibility and ability to find talents for recruitment. The band was open to composition and social renditions from outside the aggregation. Composer Oscar Moore Ofori was on hand to make his contributions as well as Joss Aikins and Joe Mensah who helped to widen the scope and horizon of the Band’s repertoire. They came out with many hit tunes such as ‘Obele Bele, Bom Nantsew, Owu Aye Made’, among others.
