Ras Kimono, real name, Augustine Onwubuya was born in 1959. He hails from Onitsha Olona in the Aniocha Local Government Area of Bendel State. After his elementary education, Kimono attended Akwukwu Igbo Grammar School, Akwukwu Igbo, Bendel State but left after two years. He worked as a club Deejay for many years before exploding on the music scene in December 1988 with his album titled Under Pressure and Unrepentant Rastafarian, Komono has since released another album titled ‘What’s Gwan’, which critics believe is, less original but won multiple PMAN awards.
