He started his music career in elementary school days with the Martin Brothers Dance Band in Port Harcourt. The war started in the late 60s and disorganized the Martin Brothers and he joined the Erasmus Jenewari and his Globe Kings Band, where he fully started his musical career as a Vocalist. After the civil war in 1970, he joined Stephen Osadebey’s Band. The band split and some of them pulled out and formed Nkenga Super Stars of Africa. Paulson Kalu then formed his Paulson Kalu and his Africana Dance Band, in Onitsha. There are many hits tunes to his credit.
