They reigned supreme in the ’30s in what was called old Lagos playing majorly at urban bars, neo-traditional Yoruba ceremonies, and at various times to the demands of Yoruba Clerical Workers, Liberian, Ghanaians, West Indian Sailors, Rich Muslim Yoruba traders, and members of the Saro westernized elite thrilling and entertaining their audience with thought-provoking and philosophical songs.
