Sunday Kenneth Otone musically a.k.a King Kenny was born at Obiaruku in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State of Nigeria in 1932. He proceeded to Lagos after his elementary education where he joined Bobby Benson’s Jam Session. Kenny formed his own band in 1958 popularly known as King Kenny Tone and his Bright Top Toppers and soon introduced his own type of music called continental Twist and Highlife Music. During his active days, he became a National Patron of Musician Association of Nigeria ‘M.A.N’ and also one of the elders in the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria ‘MCSN’ and ‘N.P.M.A.N’ Udokwa Delta State. King Kenny Tone, a very prolific composer released many tunes most of them in rich Yoruba outside his own native dialect. He Performed in several clubs across the country. The great rhythmic trumpeter with articulate tones passed on the 19th of February 2010 at the age of 78 Years.
