Daughter of Reverend R. O. Ogholi, Evi was born July 6, 1965, in Isoko, Bendel State. Immediately after her secondary school education in 1985, she fled to Lagos armed with a demo tape in search of a musical break. Luckily she met Emma Oghosi, a divorcee pop musician who later became her producer, manager, and later husband. Evi released her debut album titled My Kind of Music in 1987 thus becoming Nigeria’s first female hardcore reggae artiste. She has released three other albums, On The Move, Happy Birthday, and Step by Step. Evi’s first three albums, have gone platinum and are popular in the West African sub-region which she toured in 1989.
