Bala Miller is no doubt one of the foremost musicians from Northern Nigeria. He made a very significant contribution to music in Nigeria with Victor Olaiya, Harbours Band, Pyramid of Africa, and Costain Club, Kaduna. Bala was a lovable and easy-going man. He trained many youths in the North in the art of music. He was a regular performer on NTA Network (Bala Miller Show). Bala Miller, who used to hold showbiz court as the topmost entertainer in the Northern part of the country, had sunk into partial depression when his entertainment property, the famous Costain Club was razed by unknown persons in the Kaduna crisis of 2001.

Bala won several awards including the Black Entertainer Award, Nigeria Music Award (1989), Horn National Award for Arts and Culture (2001), and the National Honour of the Order of the Niger (MON) Nigerian Television Authority (Star Performance Award in 1983). Fredrick Nainasara Bala Miller, one of the greatest peaceful and easy group musicians, passed on in February 2003 at the age of 75.
